2. What are cookies and similar technologies?

Cookies are small text files placed on a computer, phone, tablet, or other device when a person visits a website. Cookies allow a website to recognize a browser or device, maintain a secure login session, remember settings, process transactions, understand how the website is used, and support advertising and measurement.

We may also use technologies that operate similarly to cookies, including pixels, tags, scripts, local storage, device or browser identifiers, software development kits, log files, and server-side event tools. References to “cookies” in this Policy include these similar technologies unless the context requires otherwise.

3. First-party and third-party cookies

First-party cookies
First-party cookies are placed through the Academy domain. They are commonly used for essential functions such as authentication, security, session management, and remembering cookie choices. Although a first-party cookie appears under the Academy domain, LearnWorlds may provide and manage the underlying platform technology on our behalf.

Third-party cookies
Third-party cookies are placed or accessed by a domain or provider other than the Academy. Third parties may provide payment processing, video delivery, security, analytics, advertising, or email-marketing services. Those providers may process information under their own privacy policies and, depending on the service, may act as our processor/service provider or as an independent controller/business.

4. Session and persistent cookies

Session cookies
Session cookies are temporary. They generally remain active only during a browser session and expire when the browser is closed, although the exact behavior may depend on browser settings and the provider's configuration.

Persistent cookies
Persistent cookies remain on a device for a specified period or until deleted. They may remember preferences, recognize returning browsers, maintain security, measure activity over time, or support advertising attribution. The expected durations in the tables below are based on current provider information and may change when a provider updates its technology.

5. Categories of cookies we use

Category What it does Consent and control
Strictly necessary Supports authentication, security, fraud prevention, checkout, payment processing, load balancing, cookie preferences, and delivery of requested services. These technologies are needed to operate the Academy and ordinarily cannot be disabled through our preference center. You can block them in a browser, but the Academy may not function.
Functional Remembers settings and enables optional features, embedded media, support tools, community functions, or an improved user experience. Used consistent with applicable law and the choices presented through our cookie controls.
Analytics / performance Measures visits, registrations, purchases, course activity, errors, performance, and interaction patterns so we can understand and improve the Academy. Disabled until affirmative consent where consent is required. You may reject or withdraw consent.
Advertising / targeting Measures campaigns, attributes registrations or purchases, limits or personalizes ads, and may create or use advertising audiences. Disabled until affirmative consent where consent is required. Applicable U.S. state opt-out rights are also honored where required.
Email / marketing Supports permitted email delivery, audience management, preference management, and measurement of message interactions if an email platform is enabled. Used consistent with marketing choices, applicable law, and available cookie controls.

7. Payment and security cookies

Stripe processes Academy payments and may use cookies and similar technologies to process transactions, authenticate payment methods, prevent fraud, and protect checkout. Cloudflare or another security provider may also use challenge and security technologies.

Cookie Provider Category Purpose  Typical Duration
__stripe_sid Stripe Strictly necessary Processes payments and supports checkout security and fraud prevention. Approximately 30 minutes
__stripe_mid Stripe Strictly necessary Distinguishes browsers for payment processing, security, and fraud prevention. Approximately 1 year

cf_clearance Cloudflare Strictly necessary Records that a visitor successfully completed a security, CAPTCHA, or browser challenge. Approximately 4 hours

8. Video and embedded-media cookies

The Academy provides instruction videos and other digital media through the LearnWorlds platform. Videos uploaded directly to LearnWorlds may use LearnWorlds' own platform technologies, session identifiers, local storage, or similar technologies to:
  • Deliver and play video content;
  • Authenticate enrolled students and control access;
  • Remember playback settings or progress;
  • Track course and lesson completion;
  • Record viewing activity and engagement;
  • Maintain platform security; and
  • Diagnose technical or performance issues.

These technologies may operate as part of the LearnWorlds platform rather than through separately named video-provider cookies. Where they are necessary to deliver purchased course content, authenticate students, preserve course progress, or secure the platform, they are classified as strictly necessary or functional technologies.

The Academy does not currently use Vimeo to deliver its course videos. Accordingly, Vimeo cookies such as vuid and player are not included in the Academy's current cookie inventory.

If the Academy later embeds content from Vimeo, YouTube, Wistia, or another third-party media provider, that provider may place cookies or use similar technologies when a user views or interacts with the embedded content. The Academy will update this Cookie Policy and, where required, obtain consent before activating nonessential third-party media technologies.

Provider Category Purpose Typical Duration
LearnWorlds Strictly necessary / functional Delivers protected video content, verifies student access, maintains playback functionality, and supports course-progress tracking. Session or for the period configured by LearnWorlds
LearnWorlds Analytics, where enabled Measures video engagement, lesson activity, and course completion to help administer and improve Academy content. Varies according to platform configuration

9. Google Analytics

If Google Analytics 4 is enabled and the visitor provides any consent required by law, Google may use cookies and related measurement technologies to help us understand visits, registrations, purchases, course engagement, device and browser characteristics, approximate location derived from IP address, and website performance. Google may receive online identifiers and even information. We configure analytics and consent settings consistent with available LearnWorlds and Google .
Name of Cookie Provider Purpose Typical Duration
_ga Google Analytics Google Analytics: Registers a unique ID that is used to generate statistical data on how the visitor uses the website. 2 years
_gat Google Analytics Google Analytics: Used by Google Analytics to throttle the request rate. When you close your browser
_gid Google Analytics Google Analytics: Registers a unique ID that is used to generate statistical data on how the visitor uses the website. When you close your browser
_ga_<container-id> Google Analytics
Used to persist session state. 2 years
The exact Google cookie names may include a property or container identifier. Google may update its cookies, duration, or measurement methods. Google's own privacy documentation describes its independent practices.

10. Meta Pixel and Meta advertising

If Meta Pixel or Meta server-side event tools are enabled and the visitor provides any consent required by law, we and Meta may process information about page views, registrations, purchases, course-related events, browser or device information, and advertising identifiers. This helps measure advertising performance, attribute conversions, limit or personalize advertising, and create or use advertising audiences.
Cookie / technology Provider Category Purpose Typical Duration
_fbp Meta Advertising Identifies browsers for advertising delivery, attribution, and measurement. Approximately 90 days
_fbc Meta Advertising Stores information derived from a Meta advertising click identifier when a visitor reaches the Academy through a qualifying Meta ad. Approximately 90 days
Meta-domain cookies Meta Advertising / security If a visitor is logged into or uses Meta services, Meta may use its own cookies for account, security, measurement, and advertising purposes. Varies by cookie and user settings
Meta server-side events
Meta Advertising May transmit permitted registration, purchase, or interaction events without relying solely on browser cookies. Not necessarily stored as a browser cookie

Meta may combine information received from the Academy with information it receives through its services, subject to Meta’s terms, privacy policy, and user settings. Rejecting advertising cookies will prevent browser-based Meta Pixel activation where our consent tools support that choice, although previously collected data and independent Meta activity remain governed by Meta.

11. Klaviyo and email-marketing technologies

The Academy does not currently use Klaviyo. We anticipate implementing Klaviyo to support email communications, subscriber-preference management, signup forms, audience segmentation, campaign measurement, and related marketing activities.

The technologies described below are not active merely because they are identified in this Policy. This section will apply if and when the applicable Klaviyo features are enabled.

Technology Provider Type / category Purpose
__kla_id Klaviyo First-party; marketing/analytics Assigns an identifier to a browser and may associate website activity with a Klaviyo subscriber profile after the visitor identifies themselves, such as by submitting a form or following a link from an email.
kl-post-identification-sync Klaviyo First-party local storage or similar technology; marketing/analytics May temporarily retain consented anonymous browsing activity so that it can be associated with a Klaviyo profile after the visitor identifies themselves.
Klaviyo signup-form and preference technologies Klaviyo Functional and marketing Display signup forms, remember form interactions, manage subscriber preferences, prevent repetitive displays, and record permitted consent or subscription activity.
Email pixels and link-tracking technologies Klaviyo Marketing/analytics Measure email delivery, opens, clicks, engagement, and campaign performance and help personalize future communications, where permitted by applicable law and the recipient’s settings.

When Klaviyo is implemented, the Academy may collect or transmit information such as email address, subscription status, consent records, campaign interactions, website activity, device and browser information, IP address, pages viewed, purchases, course interests, and related identifiers. We will use this information to administer subscriptions, provide requested communications, evaluate campaign performance, segment audiences, personalize communications, and send marketing where permitted.

Where applicable law requires consent, Klaviyo’s nonessential analytics and marketing technologies will not be activated until the visitor has consented to the relevant cookie category. Visitors may later withdraw that consent through the Academy’s cookie-preference controls.

Marketing consent is separate from acceptance of the Academy Terms and Conditions and is not required to purchase or access a course. Users may unsubscribe from promotional email at any time through the link provided in the message. Unsubscribing from marketing communications will not prevent the Academy from sending necessary transactional, account, security, purchase, or course-service communications.

Klaviyo’s technologies, names, functions, and retention periods may change or may vary depending on the features configured by the Academy. The Academy’s cookie-preference center and then-current cookie scan provide additional information about technologies active on a particular device or session

12. Technologies we do not currently intend to use

LearnWorlds’ generic template includes cookies for numerous optional integrations. Unless we later activate and disclose them, the Academy does not intend to use cookies from services such as Olark, TawkTo, Freshchat, Zendesk, Intercom, Mixpanel, BDOW/Sumo, HubSpot, Refersion, Fomo, TikTok Pixel, or Google Ads. If one of these or another service is enabled, we will update our disclosures and consent configuration as required.

13. Consent and cookie controls

Where required, nonessential functional, analytics, and advertising technologies will not be activated until you take an affirmative action to consent. Strictly necessary technologies may operate without consent because they are required to provide the website or service you requested, maintain security, remember privacy choices, or complete payment.

The Academy's cookie banner or preference center is intended to provide the following choices:
  • Accept all available cookie categories.
  • Change or withdraw prior categories.
  • Choose among available categories.
  • Reject nonessential cookies.

LearnWorlds allows registered users to revisit cookie choices through Account → Notifications & Privacy → Edit. Where displayed, you may also use a “Cookie Settings” link. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that occurred lawfully before withdrawal.

Rejecting nonessential cookies should not prevent access to core purchased content, but it may affect optional functionality, embedded content, remembering preferences, analytics, or advertising relevance.

14. Browser, device, and industry controls

Most browsers allow you to view, delete, block, or limit cookies. Blocking all cookies may prevent account login, checkout, video delivery, or other Academy functions. Browser controls may not block pixels, local storage, server-side events, or every type of tracking technology.

Where required by applicable law and technically supported, we will process legally recognized browser-based opt-out preference signals, such as Global Privacy Control, for the browser or device sending the signal. Because these signals are browser- and device-specific, you may need to apply the preference separately on each browser and device.

15. US State Privacy choices

We do not sell personal information for money. However, the use of advertising or analytics providers may be considered “sale,” “sharing,” or targeted advertising under certain U.S. state privacy laws. Where such laws apply to our processing, you may opt out through available cookie controls, a recognized opt-out signal where required, or by contacting us at info@thefrenchnp.com. Whether a particular legal right applies depends on your jurisdiction and whether the law covers our business and processing.

16. International users

The Academy is operated from the United States, hosted through LearnWorlds, a Cyprus company, and supported by providers that may process information in the United States, European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and other countries. If EU, UK, or other applicable law requires consent for nonessential storage or access technologies, we will request consent through available controls before activating those technologies.

17. Changes to technologies and this Cookie Policy

Providers may add, remove, rename, or change cookies, durations, or technical methods. We may also add or remove Academy features and integrations. We will periodically review the cookies used through the Academy and update this Policy when appropriate. Material changes will receive additional notice or consent where required by law. The “Last updated” date shows when this Policy was most recently revised.
